AiRS Demonstration : How does AiRS work ?

The purpose of the AiRS Demonstration is to give an insight on how the AiRS Recommendation Engine operates.

To facilitate the understanding, the AiRS Demonstration only includes 50 product promotions sub-divided in eight categories (Music/dvd/books, Electronics, Computers, Sports, Children, Travel, Wines, Cars). Product promotions have been classified only using two attributes for each product and visitors have been limited to four categories:

InterestsPrimeSecond ThirdForth
Category 1Electronics Music/DVD/BooksComputersSports
Category 2Travel SportsChildrenWines
Category 3Wines ElectronicsMusic/dvd/booksCars
Category 4Electronics ComputerSportsChildren

The AiRS Demonstration drives the visitor through a seven step process:

  1. AiRS selects four product promotions and delivers them to a web page
  2. The visitor clicks on the product promotion he is most interest in
  3. AiRS updates session and user information
  4. AiRS updates user interests (attributes of the promotion the visitor clicked on)
  5. AiRS updates user non-interest (attributes of the promotions the visitor did not click on)
  6. Based on his cumulated interests and non-interests (his enriched DNA), AiRS determines the audience segment he is the closest to.
  7. Based on the attributes of this audience segment, AiRS determines the product promotions to be delivered on the next visit.

In real conditions, AiRS is able to determine relevant recommendations based on thousands of products, classified according to a wide range of attributes. By making correlations between behaviour and interest patterns of all visitors, AiRS allows to significantly improve performance within a short period of time.
